The problem is these tools create GPX files differently, and GPX files can be many things: waypoints, tracks, and routes. Moreover, each type can have various levels of information from really detailed: elevation, time, description, URL, name, etc, to very basic (only coordinates).

Hey all, in case anyone is looking for an easy way to create a GPX file from Google Maps, try this website:
Tap. Choose the applicable export settings (see above for details on each setting) To export specific features or layers, please use the Custom option under the heading “Data”. To export schema only, please select this option under the heading “Data”. Tap Export to export the data.
Use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out. Click anywhere on the map to place a waypoint. Drag the waypoint's markers to move them. Click the 'Save .gpx' button to transfer the track to your PC and from there to your GPS / smartphone.
